That would be awesome! And there wouldn't be anything near an Obesity Epidemic.

Food would be expensive though, as transport would be near impossible.

Famine??? The global population would almost certainly take a giant hit. And so would luxury goods like computers.

It seems almost every part of the economy is hung off of petrol.

Its called "peak oil" where demand starts to exceed supply and speculation takes over. Its been known about for decades, the large western governments have done nothing to curve demand, so now welcome to our new world.

Luckily our food supply and economies are not heavily dependant on oil, oh wait actually they are lol.

People think this problem is only about "transport" its actually one of the smaller side effects.
