688994 2008-07-15 04:21:00 Hi guys

We lost our miniature Poodle last week (he was 12 y.o. after all) after a short illness, and SWMBO wants a replacement "NOW". We are looking at Trade-Me but the dogs are frickin expensive. None of you breed poodles?

Look under "Dogs and Puppies" - there are links to litters and breeders.

688996 2008-07-15 04:56:00 A resourceful person such as yourself can go out and find a small sheep, shave it where it needs to be shorn, and fluff up the fur where the poodles normally are fluffed .

I bet it works . . but the price of sheep in NZ oughtta be a lot less than a sissy Frenchie dog .

About the barking part . . . just tell SHMBO that the new poodle is speaking French .

Keep this part to yerself . . . this "poodle" will taste a lot better than an original type when food gets scarce too .

"Can I wok your dog?" Yeah!

That'll work! :punk

688997 2008-07-15 05:09:00 Go down to your local SPCA and choose one of the loads and loads of doomed dogs there............ pctek (84)
688998 2008-07-15 05:19:00 Ouch Joe, poor guy has just lost his dog. Obviously you are not a dog owner as you would then know the bond between a dog and his family.

My sympathies Sarel

688999 2008-07-15 05:51:00 Replacement? You'll never find one. But a next dog, then you can.

You really can't escape the high price of a poodle pup. If you're lucky then you might find an older one at the SPCA.

But I recommend you get a mutt, because they are usually healthier than purebreds and (usually) quite intelligent. SPCA or your local pound is the way to go. If you're lucky you might find a purebred something too.

I was making light of it . . true . . but I guess it wasn't the right thing to do .

Sorry to offend . . . I just tried to lighten it up .

BTW: I have a dog . . . a silly one, the blonde of dogs . . . but she's good even if she doesn't eat all the neighborhood children as she should .

Won't go into too much detail, but I can feel some sympathy . . even if I wouldn't miss our current canine for long . After all a dog ages a week every day . Somehow they seem to die a lot sooner than people .

689001 2008-07-15 08:28:00 We have a horrible yapping poodle living next door to us. I really really want to kill it. pine-o-cleen (2955)
689002 2008-07-15 20:39:00 Pine-o-cleen : ours was trained right, no yapping. But he was my doggie, we miss him a lot.
Joe: no offence taken, and I doubt whether I will be able to bulls*t SWMBO long enough with a shorn sheep.
qazwsxokmijn : I agree, but SWMBO wants a Miniature Poodle, nothing else, so it's not as if I have any choice here.
Kenj : Thanks. It's awful to have a dog put down and more so when you consider said dog to be "one of the family"
pctek : no can do - our SPCA do not get small dogs, they generally have these big mutts like Staffies and my section is way too small for a big dog.
Dean F : Thanks, SWMBO has been checking out that site for days now.

Our little dog had a heavily enlarged heart but eventually suffered/choked with blood in the lungs from either a tumour or a burst blood vessel. We could not see him suffer like that and die a slow death so we had him put down.

Don't believe it. People abandon/mistreat small dogs too. Ring them and ask them to let you know when one comes in.
