688981 2008-07-15 03:48:00 Owen Walker discharged without conviction, but has to pay reparation. The Judge has made a wise decision I think. Dally (6292)

688984 2008-07-15 05:19:00 Actually, I tend to agree with Dally - although I do think he should have had some kind of non-custodial sentence, such as supervision or something similar. No point in wasting valuable prison space on someone who doesn't really constitute a danger to society the way a gang member or child molestor does

And if his skills can be put to use making a valuable contribution to society, all the better

688985 2008-07-15 05:43:00 He should be sentenced - to work for the police for no profit to eradicate and trace other botnets. wratterus (105)

yes he has to be punished in some meaningful way.

When I think of all the hours and sweat I have spent downloading Anti-Virus and Spyware programs, an dsreaching for viruses etc etc and running hi-jack this logs, it really annoys me when the cops catch someone and then a judge basically let shim off, and news media (radio) turn him into some folk hero !

I say pay him $200 a week and make him work for some charity on their computers for 10 years !

688988 2008-07-15 08:03:00 Yes and that smug, smarmy, self-satisfied, self-entitled look of the 'superior being' that he and members of his family had on their faces as their over indulged child walked out a free agent really gets on my goat/nerves. zqwerty (97)
688989 2008-07-15 08:26:00 Is it just me or do you think NZ is not too familiar with the threat of cyber crime? qazwsxokmijn (102)
688990 2008-07-15 09:16:00 I don't think that the Police or the judge can even SPELL "cyber crime"!!! johcar (6283)
