817131 2009-10-05 07:14:00 I have a PC running XP Pro.

All of a sudden it does not detect wireless mouse and keyboard when it has booted into windows, it does the same with thing with a wired mouse. But it does detect k/b and mouse in CMOS. I don't have the 6 x rescue disks that you can use on xp but I do have the xp install disk. How can I fix this short of reinstalling the OS?

817132 2009-10-05 07:16:00 Look in device manager under whatever. See what it says. Also make sure USB 2 / USB is enabled in the BIOS Speedy Gonzales (78)
817133 2009-10-05 07:22:00 USB controller drivers corrupt probably.

They should have exclaimation marks in device manager, right click them>uninstall

Then click "Scan for Hardware changes" or reboot.

Yeah that will work for the USB ports in Device Manager. If it's a laptop and the mouse pad isn't working either and shows a yellow mark in device manager, you'll need to update the bios. Can find the drivers on the manufacturers website.

But most likely what blam said will sort the problem. Make sure you select 'uninstall' on all of the ones that show the yellow mark.
