816490 2009-10-03 21:13:00 I am about to buy a core i5/motherboard upgrade for my PC but i cant find any good CPU coolers to fit in the lga 1156 socket, my question is does anyone know of any CPU coolers that will fit in this socket, and id also like to know if the stock core i5 CPU cooler would be sufficient for awhile if the computer is being used for high end gaming,

Thanks in advance :D

816491 2009-10-03 22:09:00 I wonder why many people keep asking the same question over and over again? If you're not overclocking then the stock cooler is enough. Why would Intel shoot themselves in the foot by including an insufficient cooler with their CPUs?

Google LGA1156 coolers and you'll find a few that are good.

816492 2009-10-03 23:22:00 Dont know if youd consider watercooling but my swiftec apogee 775 block fitted with a bit of manipulation. theres like a one or 2 mm difference. Ive got a thermaltake one here as well if you were to go watercoolin hueybot3000 (3646)
816493 2009-10-03 23:34:00 That's interesting, hueybot. Is yours a GT or GTZ? I have a GTZ and I'm looking to upgrade to an i5 sometime in the next couple of months. qazwsxokmijn (102)
816494 2009-10-03 23:46:00 GT, I actually bought an adapter for i7 from ascent for it but found out the fun way that it doesnt work with p55 boards only p58.

I couldnt use the backplate cos i had to slightly angle the legs on the block out and then just put nuts on the back. Its definitely straight and fits as good as with the bracket
