689934 2008-07-18 21:38:00 I'd let them know If I thought it was in their best interest to know.Granted. Tone used at the time was not inferring best interests however Myth (110)
689935 2008-07-18 22:38:00 Yeah, I'm not defending your boss, I wasn't there, Just saying what I would do.

Though I was serious when I said I advocate training so people can find better work, I expect a lot of effort from my crew, We do some pretty crazy stuff, and some extremely difficult work, Then when they leave they take nothing with them, and unless we upskill them they are doomed to repeat the cycle, Straight back into a crap job.

Sadly very few will put in the effort to better themselves, Don't know if they can't see the bigger picture or just don't care.

Anyway, Good luck with the new job, Its always a challenging time.

689936 2008-07-18 22:42:00 Used a recruitment agency when I first moved over this way. Got referred to 2 vacancies within a week, got second job.

Since then, look in paper, trademe, seek.... scored a new job recently, start on 28th

Well done - always good when you can get yourself up out of the rut! :clap

Just out of interest Myth, which job-seeking method scored you a result this time?

I note that in a later post you mention that people you know have known your new boss for a while - was this one through word-of-mouth?

689937 2008-07-19 07:25:00 This time round it was via Situations vacant in the paper.

As for the new boss, my partner happened to mention the new job to her older cousin. Older cousin said she had known new boss for many years, and has worked with him in the past. Good report all round :D

dealing with job agencies to get staff

Both the above are about as likely as pigs flying.
