690424 2008-07-20 16:55:00 Makes me wonder . . "towbar" is a totally different thing here in the US .

Here's an image of what I was trying to understand about your post: LINK ( . google . com/imgres?imgurl=http://www . northerntool . com/images/product/images/337782_lg . jpg&imgrefurl=http://www . northerntool . com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200314983_200314983&h=400&w=400&sz=14&hl=en&start=5&tbnid=i7e5zR6sjM2hGM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtow%2Bbar%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26safe%" target="_blank">images . google . com 3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg . mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DG)

Now . . the "hitch ( . google . com/imgres?imgurl=http://www . etrailer . com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/dt/45014_2_500 . jpg&imgrefurl=http://www . etrailer . com/y-164 . aspx&h=348&w=500&sz=32&hl=en&start=111&tbnid=99Yzu9m6PvgiLM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtrailer%2Bhitch%26start%3D100%26gbv%3" target="_blank">images . google . com D2%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Df irefox-a%26rls%3Dorg . mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN)" or "drawbar ( . google . com/imgres?imgurl=http://bsaohio . com/~bsa/prod_images/drawbar_pkg . As far as bicycle racks that plug into a 2-inch receiver, we have them too: LINK HERE ( . google . com/imgres?imgurl=http://www . lakelandgear . com/images/bike_racks/bikerack4bikes_6pack . jpg&imgrefurl=http://www . lakelandgear . com/all-bike-racks-vehicle-bicycle-rack . aspx&h=139&w=139&sz=4&hl=en&start=61&tbnid=vdRGOXPVQXzIRM:&tbnh=93&tbnw=93&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbicycle%2Bcarrier%2Bautomobile%26star" target="_blank">images . google . com t%3D60%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dof f%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg . mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN) for the varieties used in the States . They are sure a lot cheaper than what you are seeing and the 2-inch receiver can be used for trailer towing and a lot of accessories like add-on racks, luggage carriers and wheelchair lifts too .

Another example of English-speakers divided by a common language

The equipment nofam is looking for (initially anyway) is indeed your "hitch" or "drawbar" (most likely the former to fit the latter to).

I think your "LINK" image is called an "A-frame" here - used for towing a car behind another car (without a trailer - which also has a different meaning here: a - usually - two-wheeled tray, connected to the back of a vehicle via your drawbar).

690426 2008-07-20 21:41:00 Parents got one on their van when they bought it, actually got the car sales yard to pay for it. :D (You put a towbar on it, we'll buy it...) :p

Apparently it cost $400, and that was a real meaty towbar too.

(Refer to my posts about being rear-ended) :D

690427 2008-07-20 22:28:00 I even have a 2-inch device that allows me to attach a pipe vise . . . for threading pipes and fittings in plumbing work . It also has a regular flat jawed vice for other holding problems on the job .

But . . I don't work any more really . . . just "help-out" a few friends from time to time .

I recently added another receiver for a 2-inch receiver ( . imagef1 . net . nz/files/100_20421216589357 . jpg" target="_blank">www . imagef1 . net . nz) for my winch that I put on front of my Blazer ( . imagef1 . net . nz/files/100_24161216590137 . jpg" target="_blank">www . imagef1 . net . nz) for Winter haul-outs and in the ditch recovery of unfortunate persons who slip off the roads in the ice and snow .

Here you can see it pulling a cabin back into plumb ( . imagef1 . net . nz/files/100_27401216589939 . jpg" target="_blank">www . imagef1 . net . nz) after the fireplace fell on it about 25 years ago and bent the place pretty bad . I had to draw it about 6 inches into plumb .
