Sure you are................:spam

My son went to an agency about a certain job at a certain company.
Heard various stall tactics, meanwhile I sent his CV to another agency- for the same job - while he was waiting to hear the results of the 2nd agency interview the 1st Agency rings and says company has cancelled the job.
Then he got the job via the 2nd agency 1 week later.

They all talk sh**.

So PC, when you are the female equivalent of Michael Dell, you won't be dealing with job agencies to get staff

689917 2008-07-18 05:26:00 I was just thinking the same thing.

It seriously can't be coincidence.

Isn't this the Google Ad Words targetting kicking in?

689919 2008-07-18 06:53:00 What sort of work are you after?

Basically if you have great grades try to get headhunted, if not apply to those type of jobs, if not that then you can approach agencies I find agencies are easier than direct to the employer. Expect to start at the bottom, I have degree(s) yet my first job was in a call centre and now I am in Project design/management type.

In terms of applying I apply via electronic mainly. Seek.co.nz is what I use. I also email various agencies directly with my CV. My rule of thumb is if they do not contact you back in 10 days forget it, you can followup with them again or try diff agencies. Always send them to many agencies. If they contact you and no positions available expect to be contact reguarly weekly, if not, then they have put you aside.

Do not limit yourself to permanent roles. Go for temping, fixed term contracts etc.... What is most important is to build you CV up in anyway possible.

Edit.
If you are young and stuff, even if it means working as a sales assistant in an appliance store or a supermarket, do that, its money in the pocket and you can say you are currently working and looking for work. They can see you have the initiative.

Nope, that's certainly not the case. Upon mouse hover, the links directly go to individual job applications (unlike Google Adsense, in which googlesyndication.com precedes all advertisements links).

Besides this, the advertisement couldn't have possibly loaded on my browser since I have got AdBlock Plus installed.

On top of this, the advertisement appear in non-job-related threads such as pressf1.pcworld.co.nz clearly ruling out Google Adsense being involved.

Cheers :)

689922 2008-07-18 08:41:00 Used a recruitment agency when I first moved over this way. Got referred to 2 vacancies within a week, got second job.

Since then, look in paper, trademe, seek.... scored a new job recently, start on 28th
