Whois he? (says many young ems)
I agree about the sound qaulity. I don't know why people would buy a normal song over itunes at 128k, as you can hear the poor qauility. If you are paying a couple of dollars for a sone, it should be a near CD quality download.

691825 2008-07-25 09:47:00 I agree with him - even though I own an iPod. It's ok - but for real music I prefer vinyl - through an LP12 preferably.

Neil Young spoke out when CDs were first introduced too - said that the digital era of music will be looked back on as a dark age in music. I tend to agree.

691827 2008-07-25 11:04:00 That said, I'd take a 128kbps AAC Audio file over a 192kbps mp3 any day!

...and as far as I was aware, 96kbps was "near CD quality", so Im presuming 128kbps would be on a similar par. Not perfect, but quite good nonetheless....

691828 2008-07-25 11:08:00 I don't know why people would buy a normal song over itunes at 128k, as you can hear the poor qauility. Convenience. However, if buying a full album then I would still buy the CD still unless it was on iTunes plus (256k and DRM free). Also remember that AAC gives better quality per bit than MP3s. maccrazy (6741)
691829 2008-07-25 11:20:00 Yeah its *definitely* convenient!

Lying in bed at 1AM, couldnt sleep the other night. Fired up iTunes on my iPhone and bought a Mumsdollar album (NZ Music) for a few bucks... didnt know of any 24 hour retail stores, and I just felt like listening to it right there & then :)

691830 2008-07-25 13:16:00 I think the old addage of actually collecting something in your hands kicks ass over any download. rob_on_guitar (4196)
691831 2008-07-25 17:56:00 Why are "we" talking about 128 or even 256k bitrates here?

I save each and every MP3 in at least 1,000K bitrate and I cannot notice any degradation or loss at all . I'm not talking about things from YouTube or streamcast radio .

If 128 is NEAR-cd quality . . then what is 1K worth?

I then have to cut them down with Audacity to 128 or less for my Sansa, but that's OK as I use earbuds anyway and they aren't the best for reproduction .

Sometimes I just plug it into the jack on the front of my CD/MP3/Radio player in the dash as I'm driving . . . so it's no big thang .

If I want REAL sound immersion, I just play it on guitar or bass (loudly) myself! Nyuck, nyuck!
