I didn't actually think that the margins on PCs and PC parts were actually that great due to the high level of competition around the place. Also Dell has had the online BTO scene tied up for the last 10 years and their profit margins are pretty slim or at least the model they use is although they do a lot of revenue.

Also the site says "lowest prices in NZ" so where do they get their "profit" margins from

Admittedly the site appears to be fairly well designed.

I guess it's worth a punt for them, but I can't see anyone even giving them a small fraction of that for something that looks to be quite a new business.

The prices advertised on the site aren't to bad - But lowest :groan: Some of the items priced I can easily beat or match, and I'm sure others who work in the industry could as well. - That's going on individual pricing - Mind you the question asked before is interesting, if the site has that much potential why sell it ? - good point vitalstatistix

691129 2008-07-22 07:17:00 Looks interesting but bit overpriced for me, parts are reasonable but wonder what customer service is like gary67 (56)

If the site is as good as the seller "claims" I would be wanting to have a VERY good look at the books before making any sort of offer since I don't honestly believe that an NZ based PC and component/software selling site has as much potential as the seller claims or that it is worth as much as they are dreaming/asking.

Totally Agree.

I notice the "visitor Hits" are high for a site like that in NZ - Now if the Hits were actual sales - that's a different matter.

691132 2008-07-22 08:06:00 If the site has as much potential as the seller claims then PF1's very own pctek should be a bloody millionaire by now - unless she is already but is keeping very quiet about it........<crickets> vitalstatistix (9182)
691133 2008-07-22 08:10:00 When I had my on-line shop listed on Pricespy the hits were in the hundreds of thousands.....Think I made about 2 sales a week from it, and lost money on each one as the delivery costs were more then the margin of profit, You had to cut your own throat and stab yourself in the eye to get anywhere near the top of the lists on Pricespy.

That aside, I believe it worked quite well in getting people to visit my page, and then walk into the shop to enquire about full systems.
