I know nothing about them, what should I look for and ideally it would be great if I can get it used. All I know is that some have a larger range of frequencies. Basically I am wanting it aviation listening which does not need frequencies of up to 1,300Mhz that some units support nor some that supports from 5Mhz. Too high are probably for commercial planes higher up and lower are maybe hiking style radio units at those low frequencies? Are they able to receive international radio stations? I heard that there was in teh past wide band radio or something like that ... As the receiver only, I have seen $400 ICOM ones and ones by Uniden at DSE with a narrower frequency band. Basically the question what should I look for. I may look at a handset that you can speak and send messages too, as that can be good for some outdoor activities. Thanks in advance. |
