817806 2009-10-07 09:49:00 Hey, what case fan should I buy that is a downgrade from a $60 noctua fan? Like I want it to perform nearly as good like a noctua fan but I dont want to pay that much.
Main priority is quietness/silient

-Your recommendation
-Few other fans lower $$$ then your recommendation

Thanks.

Plus short side question - people that/you build computers and are upgrading alot like mobo and switching to i7/i5 and stuff do you get OEM copies or retail? and where do you buy from computer stores or trademe?
And are the upgrades you do are they ever the mobo? Only upgrade mobo when switching to a cpu that your mobo doesnt support?

Thanks.

I reckon Yate Loons are great. Sunbeam cheap, decent though.

817808 2009-10-07 11:02:00 +1 for Yate Loons, all mine are.

Remember that alot of the noise can be due to the case grills

817809 2009-10-07 17:44:00 OEM if available, I don't buy parts from Trademe only from online shops mostly but not exclusively Ascent as their customer service is second to none and free shipping gary67 (56)

Never used Yate Loons, but I can say Sunbeam are really good for the price!

Buy from decent retailers, especially for software..

When I upgrade I look for something that will last me a while, and make it easy for furthur upgrades.

I upgrade motherboards rarely, unless the newer chipset is *really* good.

Yate Loons are regarded as the best value radiator fans on the market, and I can vouch for that with my 2x 1800rpm YL on my MCR320. It pushes quite a lot of air and the noise is while loud it is not unbearable.
