Yes I agree, I have a couple of tradesmen that come to my house to do work and they wear nice polo shirts and it does impress.

692030 2008-07-28 04:34:00 Have you looked at getting a mentor, I remember seeing an advert on tv last year about business mentors, from memory it was free. might have had something to do with the commerce commission or something.
My old boss belonged to a networking group a few years ago, they met for breckie once a week. As a group of ten, they were all business owners from all different "trades" if you like

Yeah, BNI they call it around here. All the local business's meet up about once or twice every week for meetings. Basically it's just a face to face forum for business owners to get their name out in the community via Networking and gives you a chance to show off what you can do.

Nope, it gives you a chance to show how good you are saying how good you are. Referrals, referrals, referrals is their motto. Too intense for my liking.

An excellent idea . Where do I find one?

And polo shirts look like the dogs chew rag after you wash them a couple of times .
And I hate uniforms . Bit pointless anyway - theres just me, no-one else .

This morning a customer rang to ask if I was the "posh shop" in Gore . I said I was the one on the main rd and he's coming in, and said yep, the posh shop .

Well, if I'm posh, what would he make of Computer Lounge?

Nope?

Whatever.

My old boss went to the meetings every week and he, like all the others, were given a chance to showcase what work they did.

EDIT: And pctek, regardless of what "you like", it's a business move and it presents your self to the customer that you mean business. I can't tell you how many people i have talked too and tried to direct in terms of business presentation only to be slapped in the face with a "i don't like that". If you ever find yourself saying "i don't like that" simply because it doesn't fit with your personal acceptance (within reason) then you shouldn't be in business.
