One is that if you work in any sort of financial capacity you should not be allowed to accumulate excessive leave by never taking a holiday. Such situations will make the internal auditors raise an eyebrow and look at you more closely. Secondly, if you accumulate leave over a few years until you are owed say 12 weeks leave or more, then assuming you have had a payrise each year, the holidays will be paid out at a rate higher than you earned them. This is an advantage for the employee but it costs the employer. This is the other reason employers encourage employees to take holidays regularly. |

PJ :( Well, the low holiday pay entitlement for your present position is due to the fact that the Gummint kindly ensures that every fine day falls on your day off. If Cicero's dubious blue bunch get their hands on it, things will revert to having every wet day fall on one of your days off. They have done it every time they get their hooks into the trappings of power ;) |
