691854 2008-07-25 05:32:00 Some of my jobs I was able to cash in one week of four (the extra week for one job was long service). And most jobs I have been to the trial period is only 3 months Myth (110)
691855 2008-07-25 07:33:00 But being self-employed, she'll have a good grasp of what happens in the REAL world (as evidenced by many of her posts), unlike the career politicians!!

As far as being away from her business is concerned - she won't be. Politicians spend a huge part of their year NOT in Parliament.
Refer post#3 and say that again.

691856 2008-07-25 07:56:00 I get 5 weeks annual leave per year (plus extra days for working stats). My work already allows you to buy out your excess leave as a "one-off" opportunity. I don't believe there is a limit to how much you "sell". Part of the deal is that you have to keep your accrued annual leave under 200 hrs (5 wks), but I know people who have sold excess leave and still go well over that amount later down the track.

I currently have 8 weeks owing.

691857 2008-07-25 09:02:00 Way back when, the labour dept. was checking up on our firm and I rather urgently had to take 14 weeks of accrued holidays. (We had 2 weeks a year back then.) Wish we could have sold them. R2x1 (4628)
691858 2008-07-25 09:38:00 Why an employer was forced to keep a useless worker for 6? or 9? months is beyond me.

Any employer with that many useless employees should get rid of the idiot employing them.

Why not take leave and get a life? When you're old and broken down your families will be wondering who the grumpy stranger is hanging around the house.
