817426 2010-02-12 05:02:00 PF1 and Chat are all we need. It ain't broke, so don't try to fix it...Agreed. There's *no* reason to split it into a zillion forums unless the traffic really warrants it (which it doesn't); doing so just means you have to check for new posts in many more places. A better tagging implementation would be nice though, but I get the feeling that vb just can't handle one.

...just sort out the search function. This, I don't agree with - I've been able to find almost everything I've ever looked for using the advanced search - in my personal opinion it works fine.

Always been fine for me, I've always found my posts from several years ago that I've wanted to refer to

817428 2010-02-12 21:27:00 I'd like an easier way to see what threads I have posted on.
A sort of watch list of the threads - they call it subscribing but i can never see how to do it, and to be able to unsubscribe easily when you have had enough of that thread. As already mentioned, this feature is standard in vBulletin which is what PF1 uses.

To use this feature go to your User CP options here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) and scroll down to the "Default Thread Subscription Mode". The "no email" option means you are automatically subscribed to threads you post in, but don't receive email notifications of new posts to this thread. If you want to be notified of new posts, then pick your preferred email option.

You can also manually subscribe to a thread you haven't posted in by selecting that option from the "Thread Tools" menu at the top of the thread. Unsubscribing a thread can be done using the same menu.

You can see all the threads you have subscribed to under your User CP (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) main page. There are also options to unsubscribe from the thread.

For those who haven't blocked everything but the forum pages from displaying, there is a custom Google search box at the top the page that can be used to search the forums. It also searches the general PC World website, so you do get some unwanted hits from those pages.

Edit: Although on second thoughts I may have blocked the results page by accident... will need to fix that!

817430 2010-02-13 02:00:00 I think the entire forum should be reconfigured to enable as many ads as possible to be displayed...... Metla (12)
