817416 2010-02-11 09:24:00 I suspect more and more none of the suggestions will actually be taken up by the powers that be. Sweep (90)
817417 2010-02-11 10:30:00 They've got a meeting shortly. Hopefully some thoughts / suggestions will be addressed. Chilling_Silence (9)
817418 2010-02-11 10:32:00 I think a cool option would be to be able to mark a thread as 'Solved'. Not sure if this has been suggested because there is 11 pages of stuff :) One of the Ubuntu forums have that and I find it rather useful. WarNox (8772)
817419 2010-02-11 13:07:00 I haven't read the whole thread..

How bout options of themes, where members can choose a option forum theme of their own choice. Ie: a dark background with white text theme or original theme that PF1 currently uses etc.

Edit:

I just thought of another thing... PF1 mobile... for members who used cellphone/pagers to surf online on PF1 forum.

817420 2010-02-11 17:41:00 I'd like an easier way to see what threads I have posted on.
A sort of watch list of the threads - they call it subscribing but i can never see how to do it, and to be able to unsubscribe easily when you have had enough of that thread.

PressF1 has had this feature since at least December 2004, possibly even further back...

You can increase the number of posts that appear on each page if you want. Currently I only have two pages of posts in this thread.

Mark solved has been requested.

817424 2010-02-12 04:22:00 I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, seperate categories for topics would be good, like:
networking
operating systems
hardware
etc etc...

817425 2010-02-12 04:40:00 Maybe include sub categories - or sub forums. I find in the chat section, for a particular thread, many replies go slightly off topic - over several pages. I mean all good the chats, but perhaps they could be in another relevant section. Many USA PC/Web/Internet Marketing, etc, forums that I contribute all have specific categories/sub categories.

Don't even think about it!!

I belong to a technical (electronics) forum in the UK that has 26 sub-categories. Collectively it doesn't have 5% of the daily posts we have on PF1 yet I find that I miss all sorts of useful posts because I can't scan them en-masse.

Worse than that, the sub-forums have become little fiefdoms with their own devotees and although the site is potentially very useful, it is a pain in the butt to use. To crown it all, it has an autocratic senior moderator who locks or deletes posts he doesn't like, and woe-betide anybody who posts in the wrong sub-forum or dares to stray OT.

I'm not suggesting that all of that stuff would happen here, we're Kiwis not moaning Poms, but the input of the members would be inevitably dissipated over multiple sub-forums and we'd all be the losers if that happened.

PF1 and Chat are all we need. It ain't broke, so don't try to fix it, just sort out the search function.

Cheers

Actually, counting the Read-Only sub-forums, it has over 50 categories!
