691889 2008-07-25 08:18:00 Havent tried this virtualisation software, but I use VMware everyday.
In regard to performance of running a VM from a USB drive/stick, it actually performs very well.

In fact VMware recommends that you don't store and run the VM on the same drive and the host's operating system, better option would be a second internal drive, but failing that USB or even from a SAN/NAS is great too.

Anybody esle tried this, now have a XP pc on the USB, works great!, put share on the guest O/S, and you have a PC on a stick useful for when you have pc issues!!
