| 693749 | 2008-07-31 01:15:00 | with all this flooding in nz some councils have been declaring a state of emergency. the police say this gives them more powers. what new powers do police/council have? does it mean if the police say residents have to evacuate their home then the residents have to evacuate or they'll be arrested? | lance4k (4644) | ||

No they won't arrest you, they will forcibly remove you (or get the Police to do it). Wide-ranging powers to "take" whatever they need from anywhere and pay later. Totally reasonable too. sarel |
