This worthless turd of a company now doesn't want to employ Kiwi's.

I really hope Kiwi's send a message by jumping to alternatives like Telstra "who do have NZ call centers".

But no doubt it will be accepted as a sign of the times, and NZ will loose more valuable assets just so the few shareholders can earn another 10cents a share next year. Makes me wonder why company's like Telecom exist if all they ever do is look after there shareholders.

693403 2008-07-29 21:37:00 Forget the Olympics - Telecom is really striving .

Consumer NZ chief executive Sue Chetwin, however, said customer service for Telecom's Internet service Xtra had sunk to new lows . . . " .

This represents an incredible achievement - many of their customers would have described this as impossible in the "good old days" back in April this year .

693404 2008-07-29 21:41:00 The only jobs which cannot be outsourced are
Hair dressing
Automotive repairs
Building
Escorts

I got this from a book called Chindia (all about the rise of China and India)

We do bring it on our selves to a certain extent, always asking for cheaper prices and better service.

693405 2008-07-29 21:43:00 Yes, and I saw a news report on BBC world a few days about call centres in the Philipines. They are HUGE. And they are growing like mad. Digby (677)

693408 2008-07-29 23:24:00 Now the idiots signed up with Xtra will have towait an hour to have their problems solved by someone who probably doesn't speak English.
I suppose it's no worse than waiting an hour to have problems solved by someone who doesn't know the answer.

Vodafone has had ther call centre in Egypt for years, and noone has critsied them for it, although I must admit that is it rubbish now and far worse than it was when it was in NZ . Blame the government and unbundling, as it means that ALL ISPs have to cut costs to compete and survive on price . Telecom shareholders have had a battering over the last few years due to unbundling (used to be $7 a share), and shareholders must get a return, otherwise noone would invest in them . No investment, no company, that is how business works .
