693122 2008-07-28 22:31:00 The Olympics sailing venue is called Qing Dao. When you pronounce it dose it sound like Qing Dao or Chin Dow. I heard a TV reporter a few weeks ago pronounce it as Chin Dow.
:)

693123 2008-07-28 22:53:00 It is pronounced as "Chin Dow (as in 'bow')" - (Not "King Dow")

Qing Dao means "Green Island", on a sidenote.

Cheers :)

Is that "bow" as in bending forward from the waist, or as in bow tie, or as in dog sound or . . . ? ? ? ;)

693126 2008-07-28 23:45:00 It is bow tie in cantonese pronounciation but mandarin is slightly different .

English don't have this pronounciation sound .

The "AO" has a curved tone .

Yeah it's pretty gross. :yuck:

Apparently they have put up rings of pontoons and stuff, to keep the slime out of the yachting areas! :groan:
