693071 2008-07-28 09:10:00 Any plane spotters here?

Just saw a plane that looked like it was in a spot of bother fly over my house. All I can say is it had 4 major lights across the wind span, 1 blinking light on the body and 3 tail lights.

Its probably nothing but sounded like it was cutting out, or 'spluttering'.

Its not far to the hamilton airport from here (about 10 - 15 minute drive), but unnerving to hear the noise anyway.

Mr peter jackson has a Sopwith Camel...
en.wikipedia.org

in its normal mode of operation it sound quite sick, cutting out, or 'spluttering'.
this is due to cutting off all but one of the cylinders to reduce power.

peter is often flying it near auckland.

I would not be expecting it to be out this late a night in winter....

and that Camel won't have so many lights....

He might own one amongst a flight of others but flown???

I think work and his insurance company keep him much further South .

Are you sure Paul Holmes isn't playing Biggles again?

It was my understanding that PJ does NOT fly the planes he owns. He's a WW1 aviation buff, but not a pilot (at least I don't think so).
