692843 2008-07-27 13:45:00 Ive bottled hot water for baby's food, but no storm. Where is it? Has anyone had any yet?

I was hoping for a monster but all we get is a wet fart. Dumb.

Then again it may not!

692847 2008-07-27 21:30:00 Was a bit of a fizzer so far as Auckland is concerned, but I am told that it was rough, for a short while, up in Kaitaia, although I was told more wind than rain.

The one main effect I saw was the barometer. It went from 29.94 (in the old money) down to 28.6 which is most unusual and very low. It dropped to that level over about two hours. It has risen back up but only to 29.65.

692848 2008-07-27 22:43:00 Some places got it and some places didn't. On Saturday the winds were strong around Massey West, though I was surprised it managed to knock my neighbour's tree, which landed on his car. qazwsxokmijn (102)
692849 2008-07-28 00:04:00 A Banksia tree in my backyard got so scared in anticipation that it dropped a huge branch three days before the event. Don't tell me trees don't know what's going on!

In the event, a very well-sheltered tree beside my driveway was uprooted but was caught by an adjacent tree so is still standing almost upright. However, two huge, ancient and very scraggly pine trees ruining the view on our immediate horizon survived yet again!! We pray that they will fall soon, but if I were one of the residents below them, I'd have them out like a shot because one day they are going to cause terrible damage to their houses.

It was pretty wild and woolly at times and driving across the Harbour Bridge was exciting. On one trip we saw a motorcyclist who ignored the warnings sitting on but walking his machine down the between-lane oasis on the Northern side and having extreme difficulty in staying upright.

Cheers

When I started to look at our barometer it was down to 990mb. Don't know whether it got any lower before I looked.
BTW did you manage to get the readings for your barometers. If not go here.

Yes I did, thanks, Trev. Site looks interesting. Ta.

Never ceases to amaze me the combined knowledge of this lot on F1.
