818620 2009-11-07 02:00:00 You may have a corrupt profile or something (support.microsoft.com) Speedy Gonzales (78)
818621 2009-11-07 19:31:00 no its not corrupt, the problem occurs on every user profile.

although i have encountered a corrupt profile before, but i fixed the issue.

heres the thing. most of the evidence so far points towards a corrupt adapter, however one problem remains.

if ive had this adapter for about two months now and the problem began to show only two weeks ago, then what was the sudden irregularity that could have caused my internet connection to deteriorate? because i have noticed that after you attempted to examine the problem, my internet has been even worse. simple pages such as blog pages or msn do not load at all. could this be due to the QoS packet scheduler?

i tried to see if activating the packet scheduler would make my internet perform any differently. it seems that even if it is turned on or off it doesnt make a difference. internet still performs with terrible effieciency.

818622 2009-11-07 19:44:00 If its affecting all users, what I did, didnt make it worse. It wasnt that good BEFORE I started. The only other thing you can try is replace the wireless adapter, or use ethernet / disable wireless and see what happens. or do a clean install. Then dont install any P2P programs, or run files / programs if you dont know what they are Speedy Gonzales (78)
818623 2009-11-07 20:52:00 ok, ill see when i can get windows 7 h4rsheys (15319)
818624 2009-11-08 22:26:00 after you helped me with firefox in safe mode, my add-ons all became disabled.

i just re-enabled them, and internet is noticeably faster :]

this is with the QoS packet scheduler turned off.

ill let you know if anything else happens

818625 2009-11-08 23:12:00 The other computers with XP Pro, do this:

Go to start/run, type gpedit.msc.

Click on the + beside computer config. Double click on admin templates, click on QOS packet scheduler. Double click on limit reserve bandwidth / settings. Click on enabled. Change it to 0. Then click on OK. Exit group policy, reboot. It should be a LOT faster. What this does is (what you may have been experiencing). It limits the bandwidth to what ever is networked. Disabling it, removes it

818626 2009-11-11 18:21:00 and i should do this on the other computers because it will make mine faster?
how?
