818607 2009-11-02 02:46:00 yes i have all updates installed. comp is up to date.

the tcpip version is- 5.1.2600.5625

i did the scan with the xp cd, i dunno if it made any difference though.

i didnt find a replacement online, but i did find a tcp/ip patcher for xp sp3 on this site: hwrms.com

i used it and set the limit to 550.

i dont notice a significant change as of yet

ALSO**

got another bsod.
but there was no file name on this one. simply this error message was displayed after the generic "if this is the first time you are experiencing this" junk:

***Stop: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x88AE063B, 0x94886B40, 0x00000000)

Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact you system administrator or technical support group for further assistance.

thats it. can you make anything out of that? oh yea, i got this bsod before experimenting with the tcpip, about 10 minutes prior.

818608 2009-11-02 02:58:00 I dont think the patcher will help it will make a copy. But since the original maybe corrupt, it'll still crash.

Hmm, reinstall this update (www.microsoft.com) it'll install the same version of tcpip.sys. That may fix the crash tcpip.sys was causing. Then reboot. Then I'll see what that stop error means. I would be careful where you get patchers from.

818610 2009-11-02 04:37:00 No probs at all :) Umm yer let us know if it brings up that 0x0000008E again later today. If it does, we'll check that out. To see what maybe causing it. That BSOD that showed tcpip.sys shouldnt come up again (well hopefully). Since the installed version shouldnt be corrupt Speedy Gonzales (78)
818611 2009-11-02 04:40:00 well, it does make somewhat of a difference. my internet speed has noticeably increased and i can now load multiple tabs. i can also now run AIM and my internet browser at the same time. however, flash based pages still have problems loading, either they load in plain text format, or they do not load at all. beforehand, before all these problems, flash pages such as cnn, youtube, nbc, used to load just fine... h4rsheys (15319)
818612 2009-11-02 04:49:00 Sweet ! At least you noticed a few differences. We can check out the flash prob tomorrow. Without that tcpip patch you ran before, it'll only open so many things at once (that could be the reason why you can do what you said in the previous post). With the normal tcpip.sys file, something needs to finish, before something else can use it Speedy Gonzales (78)
818613 2009-11-03 01:28:00 strike that, images and videos, as well as flash associated content do not load. for example. youtube and google images does not work. i will attach a few images displaying the issue. and as usual, firefox will load these pages forever, and eventually crash. once firefox crashes- the "end program-n" error is displayed before shutdown.

end program- n is associated with firefox/ browser crashes. reinstalling browser does not work. tcpip replacement does not work. bsod errors are still apparent and have not stopped occuring, although they do not occur regularly.

the problem is still the same as it was before... do you have aim? we can communicate much more efficiently through an IM client.

818614 2009-11-03 01:33:00 I've only got Skype on this. I do have MSN, but not on this (its on the Xbox). If you're free now, and if teamviewer is installed, send the ID and password to me in a PM. I'll check it out now Speedy Gonzales (78)
