692901 2008-07-28 04:54:00 a dad's job in this world is to rase a child to be a good member of the world.
a dad's job is to love a child all that they can.
a child's job is to learn from a dad.
a child's job is to love a dad all that they can.

it looks to me that both he and you have done well.

just because he is gone does not mean you stop doing your part.....
love him and learn from his words of wisdom.....

stay stong.

692902 2008-07-28 06:31:00 RIP indeed.

Farewell
Farewell to Thee! But not farewell
To all my fondest thoughts of Thee;
Within my heart they still shall dwell
And they shall cheer and comfort me.
Life seems more sweet that Thou didst live
And men more true Thou wert one;
Nothing is lost that Thou didst give,
Nothing destroyed that Thou hast done.

692905 2008-07-28 23:16:00 Thank you all . . . . . . . . . . . so humbling to realise how many people do care, and read and feel for other humans at this time .

We are coping as well as can be expected . . . . . . . . . since he had been sick so long we i guess had be preparing for it for yonks . . . . . . . . but it is always a shock no matter when . he is at peace, and my mum has us here locally so that is good .

Lots of people coming out of the wood work, the news is traveling fast,
and in a way, it doesnt seem real yet . . . . . . . . . but it will very soon, on the day of the funeral .

he was a man of many talents, many hobbies, and a great love for his family . he had a loving wife of 54 years in september, he had 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 5 great granchildren .
he farmed many many years, loved big machines, even had an attempt at building a microlight and flying it, and found he didnt like heights . . . . lol
he had a digger / dozer contract business for when times were quiet, he still has them, and they sit at my brothers . . . . . . . . . and we did have till recently 1800 acres of land, to be farmed, sheep, beef, deer, and trees . . . . . . . . .
the trees are a family legacy, starting with my grandfather, my dad, my brother and then me . . . . . .

i have many many happy memories of my dad, the laughter, fun, and occasionally the accidents - the farm ones . . . . . . and the reason why it was good to smoke so he could burn the leach off my arm from me making mud pies while he was digging with his 14 tonne digger . . . . . . . . or the time we flipped a 3 wheeler . and burnt my leg and smacked him in the face . . and all i can remember is saying ya burnt me leg . . . . . . . . . . . we got back on and finished our day .

I love my dad, my mum and my family .
thank goodness for memories
