818938 2009-10-16 07:12:00 Do you have dial tone on your phone? If you have no adsl maybe your port has been turned off. Did you ever verify your user name and password in your modem when you had no ppp? fujitsu (13819)
818939 2009-10-16 07:51:00 Yes fujitsu I have dial tone, my phone works fine, as does Dial-Up which Kinect supplied to try and fill the gaps.

However:

Well here we go guys, 8:30 pm Friday and sill on Dial-Up.

Now I’ve hounded hell out of my ISP (Kinect) and they are as frustrated as I am.

Telecom has not responded to any of their communications other than to tell them they, (telecom) have a 24hr window to attend to things as of right. (see previous posts).

Ok, but now my nasty suspicious mind comes into play.

I have read a number of posts on here stating their ISP has gone to pieces.
From memory, xnet has featured.

Now, I wonder if Telecom hasn’t used their monopoly mussel in an attempt to get rid of these smaller ISP’s?

Let’s face it, the average Joe Blog’s would blame his ISP for what I’m going through and change to another, possibly Telecom.

Anyway, just a heads up, because there is something completely out of order here and I may not be the only one suffering because their ISP relies on Telecom.

818940 2009-10-16 08:07:00 Hi again, do you have adsl on your modem? fujitsu (13819)
818941 2009-10-16 08:08:00 Did your ISP specifically ask for a tech visit to investigate the problem.
If so telecom should have updated the ticket by now with a date for the visit.
The fault ticket info and updates can be accessed through a telecom site and your ISP can also add to it or make further requests there as well although I would be inclined to get your ISP to call them regardless of their request not to do so.

I feel as if your ISP is not being proactive enough in establishing the status of your fault.

Also in some parts of NZ there are considerable delays in getting techs onsite to investigate problems, several days in some cases is not unusual.

818942 2009-10-16 08:48:00 Perhaps some people at Telecom do not use seafood. Sweep (90)

Thanks for that Safari, I'll check the telecom site and see what I can find.

However, the problem does appear to be getting a Technician. The problem is 99% certainly in the exchange which is where it was last week.

And yes, I have been told that getting a technician can take 5 or 6 days especially north of Auckland.

Time to give all the ISP's a key to the exchange and let them provide their own tech's me think. :(

Only the ISP has access to the fault tickets on the telecom site

ISP reports no action as yet although they have labeled it urgent. :groan:

818947 2009-10-17 00:36:00 No, a contractor that does work for Telecom, I have been through various stages of "the company" before being forced to work for another that does design build and faults for them. fujitsu (13819)
