| 819247 | 2009-10-11 19:39:00 | I keep Outlook on the network (Windows Home Server) and want to index it (and other files) back onto my laptop, also connected to the LAN. Index Options on the Laptop (VISTA) don't give me any location options for the server. I have tried mapping the Outlook PST file on the Server but Index doesn't see any mapped drives either. How do I set the server up so files can be indexed back to other PC's on the LAN, - in this case Outlook? |

| 819253 | 2009-10-12 01:50:00 | Thanks for your help, - got to say I am surprised Microsoft Index cant index folders on the network, especially when the network is its own software (WHS). Maybe there is other software which can, - I will have a look around. Thanks. |

| 819254 | 2009-10-12 02:08:00 | Easy way once the add in is installed, Click Start/ Type in index, select Index Options, Click on the Advanced button, Add UNC location. Quick Example (www.imagef1.net.nz) now type in the exact location you want to index, OR open the folder via the LAN, right click it, properties, Copy/Past the location into the box , click Add / OK. Close the box. Example (www.imagef1.net.nz) Give a short while to index, next Click Start, type in the word(s) you want - if it doesn't show, click "Search Every Where" - Bingo - search results will open in a new window. |

| 819255 | 2009-10-12 04:30:00 | Thanks wainuitech, - I have installed and configured your suggestion and so far it seems to be working well. Just what I was looking for. I am also using it successfully on Windows 7, - though MS say its not supported. Indexing hogs the network (wireless) but I can live with that as it will only be for a short time while initial indexing is being done. Thanks Sergio |
