819063 2009-10-10 11:27:00 I accidentally made my OS (win7) drive logical and now it won't boot the OS without the other drive with XP.

How do i unconvert back to primary partition without formatting or reinstalling the OS.

Can you use Acronis Disk Director or Partition Magic for this?

Cool, can you test it by making a logical partition and storing some files on it. Then change to primary partition and see if the files are still there.

Cheers :banana

819066 2009-10-11 00:54:00 Gparted or Parted Magic should do it.

Acronis Disk Perfect can too, but never tried.

819067 2009-10-11 02:40:00 Making the drive primary partition still didn't make it bootable by itself. So i formatted the drive unplugged the other drive with XP, and starting installing Win7. I got up to the stage where it restarts in 10 seconds. System restarts and the installation setup starts over again when i have the USB . If i remove the USB with the OS i get a string of msgs like try hd1, try hd2, try hd3, sometimes i get no msg and just a flashing "_".

What am i doing wrong???
