695250 2008-08-06 04:04:00 Seeing as I don't have freeview, it appears the only way I can watch the Olympic football games tonight is through the TVNZ website.

Does anyone have any idea how much bandwidth 2 hours worth of streaming video would suck up?

695251 2008-08-06 04:14:00 Do you know what bit rate you're watching the video at? wratterus (105)
695252 2008-08-06 04:17:00 No idea,

Am at work now, so can't check. :badpc:

695253 2008-08-06 04:36:00 The way you work it out, is find out the bit rate it's streaming at, then divide it by 8. (8 bits in a byte.)

That is how many kilo bytes a second you've downloading at. Then work it out in terms of minutes or hours.

If it was 300kbps, you'd be downloading constantly at about 37.5 kbytes/sec, which works out at 2.25mb/min, or 135MB per hour.

Maths ftw. :D

695254 2008-08-06 05:13:00 This (images.tvnz.co.nz) TVNZ news stream is supposedly at 128kbps which (when it works) is fairly low resolution, but it is watchable. jwil1 (65)
695255 2008-08-06 05:15:00 I'm a little pi$$ed off that they aren't streaming the opening ceremony. Or did I miss something. :p Parent's want to watch it but have no TV reception. I keep saying freeview, but "We don't watch it enough to justify it". :D

Whatever.

695256 2008-08-06 05:18:00 Hang on, I thought TV One was going to show the opening ceremony? NO?!?! Renmoo (66)
695257 2008-08-06 05:19:00 Hang on, I thought TV One was going to show the opening ceremony? NO?!?!

TV One - yes, but not streaming online. At least from looking at the online streaming schedule, there was no time set aside for the opening ceremony.
