2009-10-15 01:01:00 | Hi. My old e-mail programme crashed this morning and I don't seem to be able to get it working again - even after rebooting my PC. I was previously using Netscape 4.79. I already had Thunderbird (2.0.0.18) loaded so I thought I would just switch over. I believe I have successfully imported all my e-mail messages but I can't find my address book. However, the most urgent issue is that I don't seem to be able to receive any messages. I have been able to send e-mails (I know the recipient received them) and a saved copy appears in my sent file. However, I cannot find any new messages that I know have been sent - even test messages sent to myself. Perhaps I don't have the programme configured correctly. Help  I am using XP Home, SP3. Yes, I have checked and Thunderbird is set as my default e-mail programme. Thanks in advance for any help. Michael

2009-10-15 02:13:00 | Is the email actually coming in then disappearing, or simply not coming in at all ? | wainuitech (129) | |
2009-10-15 03:02:00 | Thanks to you both for taking the time. My ISP is Hamilton Planet. I don't think the message is comming in at all. I'm not seeing any error message at all. No sign of activity on the link at all when I go to "Get Mail". Curious thing is that I can send mail. Thanks again! I still need help! Michael

2009-10-15 03:50:00 | Go into the thunderbird settings for your account, I "think" its at Edit > Account Settings - dont use thunderbird so cant check. Look for the user name / password, etc, also look for the pop3 & smtp settings, make sure they are all there and correct. Youushould also be able to log into the ISP's web site/Mail and make sure you do have mail waiting Via the web mail.

All the menus and options are available for nearly every OS, browser and email program from chasms site. Agree with your comments about Thunderbird though. It is a terrible program on Windows, hate using it. The Mac version is fine though, never had any trouble with it. |
