820552 2009-10-14 18:40:00 Hi,
I have two partitions at the moment, one is 206GB with windows 7 and the other is 80GB. I would like to put the OS on the 80GB partition and have the other one for data.

I dont mind if I have to reinstall.

820554 2009-10-14 19:01:00 So how do I remove the OS from the first partition?

Will this (answers.yahoo.com) work?

Don't follow those instructions - they'll leave all kinds of crap spread over your HDD.

Just format the partitions from the windows installer.

820556 2009-10-14 20:24:00 If you use Partition Magic I am sure that you can resize the paritions to get the same effect, as I understand it the OS must be on C. I have 5 patitions C programs, D data, E a society that I am Membership sec for, F for photos, H for a commitee that my wife is Sec for.Partition magic allows resizing an the fly without destoying data.

Shrink the drive using Gparted

Back up your data first.

Sometimes gparted can corrupt some files, but just boot from your W7 DVD and run startup repair, then it should be fine.

If that fails, just reinstall:)

Alternatively, you can just go straight to reinstalling:p

Also, if you do reinstall save you old drivers first, by copying the C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository folder to a flash drive, then when you need the drivers point it to the new location:)
