820477 2009-10-14 09:06:00 Is it normal for it to hang, if one of the computers you've added to it, has been turned off? I thought the prob was the card reader, so I removed the entries to the slots (with a reg hack). It still hung, then I removed the shortcut to the PC (thats now turned off). Sure enough it hung. So, anyone have any idea, on how to fix it (so I can leave the shortcut there)? Speedy Gonzales (78)
820478 2009-10-14 10:29:00 mine only hangs if theres an external device connected. the hang will be waiting for a response hueybot3000 (3646)
820479 2009-10-14 10:42:00 Well obviously it'll be waiting a long time, since the computer is off lol Speedy Gonzales (78)
820480 2009-10-14 10:45:00 oh so its hanging forever? How did you add a computer to the send to anyway? Sounds useful hueybot3000 (3646)
820481 2009-10-14 10:59:00 Go to run type sendto. (without the .). You have to add yourself as the owner (of the sendto folder) to get in the folder first. (In Vista that is, or else it'll bring up a denied access message). Then create a new shortcut (like you would for any other shortcut). Except you select network, and then select the shared folder on the networked PC.

You can do the same thing in XP. Altho, I cant remember it hanging in XP

No it doesnt hang forever, but computer in Vista stops responding for umm maybe 4-5 secs.. Then you have to select whatever files again, then select sendto -> the networked PC / folder. Then it'll work. It just saves me copying and pasting into the networked folder. Or bringing the networked folder up in network (in Vista), and going there manually

I also killed UAC, it got annoying. After I found out programs like Foxit (the update option), would give me an access denied error, when I went to update it. Killing UAC fixed it.

820482 2009-10-14 11:10:00 Hey thats pretty cool, works fine for me and doesnt hang. Thats win7 though hueybot3000 (3646)
820483 2009-10-14 11:12:00 But is the computer you put under sendto on or off? There's a diff, it'll work if its on. Turn it off, and see what happens Speedy Gonzales (78)
820484 2009-10-14 11:13:00 I tried both, still seems fine either way. UAC off as well hueybot3000 (3646)
820485 2009-10-14 11:14:00 Oh well, maybe MS did something properly then :p Speedy Gonzales (78)
820486 2009-10-14 11:17:00 haha yeah itd be a first, its kinda frustrating that i cant really find anything wrong with win7, its got everything that previous windows has but everything....works! hueybot3000 (3646)
