820210 2009-10-13 11:43:00 I have a wireless internet connection and it is working fine on my computer. I have another computer with Ethernet card and i tried to plug in the modem wire to the Ethernet port of other computer but it is not working there. The RJ connector is not even blinking. Please advise how i can use this computer for internet connection. sazd1 (15338)
820211 2009-10-13 17:14:00 Unfortunately it'll take a *lot* more than that.

What kind of Wireless Internet connection is this? You're hopping on your neighbours Wifi?

820212 2009-10-13 20:07:00 Are you trying to share the connection to the other computer? Blam (54)
820213 2009-10-13 20:16:00 What's the model of your wireless router?

Are you saying you're plugging in an ethernet cable on the other computer to a LAN port on your router? What did you mean by "modem wire"?

A typical wireless router setup will have a WAN port (either ADSL, or ethernet for a cable modem, etc) & (usually) 4 LAN ethernet ports, in addition to the WiFi aerials. Usually using wired ethernet will be plug & play, as the router will assign IP addresses to any connecting PC & the PC will have automatic IP address option (DHCP) enabled.

820214 2009-10-14 11:25:00 I am using Zinwell Wireless Access Point G220.
Sorry that i could not explain my query so well.
I have subscribed to a Wireless radio internet connection at my home connected to my computer through Ethernet port. It is working fine.
I have another computer with installed ethernet card and i tried to use the connection to that computer. What i did i unplugged the RJ connector from the ethernet port of first computer and plugged the same into the ethernet port of second computer. But it did not work in the second computer.
Please advise me for this.
Thanks.

820215 2009-10-14 17:40:00 It could be a ton of things.

First, how about we go and properly name your PC's for the sake of clarity.
The first PC we are going to call Pluto, this is the one that works.
The second PC we are going to nickname Daffy, this is the one that is broken.

Now the Zinwell G220 is how you're connecting to the internet and judging by the photos here:
www.rfshop.com.au
I'm guessing you're plugging in to the LAN port in the back of it, cable running between the LAN Port and Pluto works correctly.

Just to clarify, what you've done us unplugged from the back of Pluto and plugged in to the back of Daffy and found it's not working.

So, we start by plugging the cable back in to Pluto, then press the Windows Key & R, then in the new "Run" window that appears, type in:
cmd
Hit OK and a new window will pop up.

Now, type "ipconfig /all"
The relevant parts that we want to know:
IP Address?
DHCP Enabled?
Subnet?
Gateway?
DNS Servers?

Post back with the results :) Please also let us know what OS you have running on both computers? WinXP? Win98?

To copy everything in the command prompt, right click inside it>select all, then Ctrl+C

Then Paste here:)
