820768 2009-10-15 03:50:00 Could you post a screenshot of the DSL Line stats in your ADSL Router?

DSL Line stats?

i did speedtest again using a auckland sever and the ping was 103:confused:, although the down/up was worse.

using the brisbane server was better than the wellington sever:confused:

I meant to say status sorry. Most ADSL routers have a status area, and in there a DSL or ADSL area.

Run -> cmd -> punch in "ipconfig" it will list network adapters.

Look for which ever one you use, it will be the one which has a "Default gateway".

Punch in your default gateway into a browser, it'll get you into your router. If you are running a router and a modem, you'll need to find your default gateway there also and punch that into your browser, otherwise you just need to look around - most likely under status or something.

Will vary with each router & modem.

It'll ask for the password, assuming you've not changed it, it will be admin/admin. (Look up a manual for the modem if that doesn't work).

If you still can't get into the modem's interface you'll need to do a hard reset to recover the password, which will kill all your setting and I wouldn't recommend that unless you are sure you can get it working. Tech support from an ISP is a *****.

Everything looks good. SNR does look a little weak though. Could be your internal phone wiring, but it's good enough.

820774 2009-10-15 17:55:00 You have a pretty decent sync rate (Better than mine), and it says you're on an ADSL2+ connection?

Do you know anybody else who's also on the same exchange as you are, but with another ISP?
Go to winmtr.sf.net and grab the latest WinMTR.
Run 100 iterations on trademe.co.nz and another 100 iterations on nzherald.co.nz
Export each to a txt file and post the results :)

Not a fan of those routers either, but I'll hold my judgement for now until the traceroute results come in ;)
