820577 2009-10-14 19:00:00 I'm going to be in wellington for a week for work, and am interested to know where I can get wireless access (for email and light surfing via laptop) in the cbd area. The hotel isn't that cheap IMO ($15 a day, 50mb) so does anyone have any suggestions of places I can go for wireless? Or are there any wireless plans I can sign up to for a week? :)

Or is the hotel asking a realistic amount?

Staying on lambton quay towards the railway station end, work meetings are in wakefield street I think

Cheers,
Mike.

820578 2009-10-14 19:12:00 In a number of places there is access to CafeNet (http://www.cafenet.co.nz/) somebody (208)
820579 2009-10-14 20:04:00 x2 for cafenet, they're great. A tad pricey (on a par with or very slightly cheaper than the hotel), but probably better service than your hotel will offer, and available in more places. Erayd (23)

820583 2009-10-15 04:33:00 Ours have free wireless in Nelson, I know as step son uses it when in town and Nofam used one here last Christmas too. Even the Hanmer Springs library has free wireless gary67 (56)
820584 2009-10-15 18:22:00 Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check out this CafeNet, and I think the library is somewhere near where I'm going, although might not be as convenient.

I'm surprised there aren't places that offer a week-long plan, would be great for travellers wouldn't it?

Mike.

820585 2009-10-15 18:44:00 CafeNet *does* have a week-long plan:

GoAllDay - $10 buys 24 consecutive hours of CafeNET access time.
GoAllWeek - $50 buys 168 consecutive hours of CafeNET access time.
70 MB ($20)
350 MB ($80)
Time-based plans have unlimited data, or if you'd prefer you can opt for prepaid data (no time limit, never expires) if you don't think you'll use much.
