819893 2009-10-12 09:34:00 I have done my genealogy and would like to put it on a web site. Who do you recommend a and at what price. THANKS olldaddy78 (6546)
819894 2009-10-12 09:38:00 That depends-if you're after something simple, then a easy to use CMS such as Wordpress or Joomla would suit you.

Or, you could someone to build you a website from scratch.

TBH, I reckon the former would be much better, as it would be cheaper and also easier for you to manage and add pages etc. If you're interested, I can get you set up with hosting and install WP/Joomla for you for free(other than the price of the domain name)

If you decide to go the latter-talk with Hueybot, and he should be able to whip up a site for ya:D

You will need a hosting service that supports PHP5 and MySQL 5 for the latest version.

There are overseas hosts that cost as little as USD 6 per month.

Sorry to be a party pooper but I've tried there hosting, and they are extremely slow, even though they claim the opposite.

Avoid free hosting. Have yet to find decent web hosting!

You pay for what you get. You are obviously going for the cheapest rubbishy web hosts. I have been there too in the past, but it just isn't worth the hassle.

I have been using my current host for over 5 years for my companies website, never had a problem, but I do pay for it. Recommend using NZ servers too. My provider doesn't have any cap on diskspace or bandwidth, about $NZ1 day, which is pretty cheap for a business website.
