821348 2009-10-17 03:42:00 I am upgrading my PC and have installed a sata drive to replace the IDE drive Windows boots up fine, but when I connect the old drive to transfer all my data I get an error message on boot up: <windows root> \system32\hal.dll corrupt. If I remove the IDE drive all boots up again just fine. What is to be done? bpt2 (6653)
821349 2009-10-17 06:04:00 It may be trying to boot from your old IDE drive?

Set the SATA HD to first priority in the BIOS

821350 2009-10-17 07:18:00 There does not appear to be such an option in bios. It just has CDROM, HD and Other. The sata drive is second after the CDROM. It's an ASUS A8N-VM motherboard. bpt2 (6653)

There should be a HD Order option. Keep looking:)
