821087 2009-10-16 07:03:00 Having lots of problems with Word 2007 on Vista. The repair function does not fix anything. Malwarebytes finds nothing. I'm thinking of deleting the Office Suite completely and reinstalling. I have the Suite programs on C: drive and all of the Data on F: drive - different disks - so deleting the program should not impact on my correspondence. Anyone see any problems with this action, before I go ahead? Thanks Scouse (83)
821088 2009-10-16 07:06:00 Have you got SP2 installed for Office 2007? CYaBro (73)
821089 2009-10-16 07:07:00 What problems with Word?

Do you mean repair as in a repair install of the product?

Or Diagnostics and Repair tool?

And yes, there shouldn't be any problems uninstalling the program.

You may want to download Revo Uninstaller and use that, for a more thorough removal of MS office.

Run it in moderate or advanced mode.

821090 2009-10-16 07:27:00 It is possible that the normal.dot template is corrupt but as you do not say what problems you are having I hesitate to diagnose at this time. Sweep (90)
821091 2009-10-16 07:34:00 I Have heard a rumor that because Vista is not up to expectations, that a superior program is being offerred as a free replacement. It is called Windows 95SE. Is there any truth in that? PJ

ps. My source is protected. pj:clap:rolleyes:

821092 2009-10-16 07:36:00 Theres a 'trick" to the Normal file, which differs to the usual Normal.dot in previous versions of office. Found this out the hard way last year.

If you need to create a new Normal file, there is also a Normal.dotm, which is actually the working file.

821093 2009-10-16 23:49:00 Hi Folks.
Details of my Word problem are scarce. The box simply says:
Attached file: Word_problem01.jpg (www.imagef1.net.nz) (39 KB)

Steps taken prior to my original request for advice included:
System Restore, stepping back eventually as far as.
Repair from the original CD.
Relacing Normal.

Finally, in frustration, simply deleted the damn thing using Blam6's suggested revouninstaller and reinstalled. Seems to be working OK for now. Just about to install SP's so keeping my fingers crossed.

As always, help was readily forthcoming and much appreciated.

By the way - it never did come up with an answer to its problem..........

821094 2009-10-17 05:55:00 Maybe it could have been buggy addin?

Did you ever try word safe mode?(Run>winword.exe -safe)

Ah well. Hope the problem is fixed and won't reoccur again!:)
