821345 2009-10-17 06:14:00 Speedy Gonzales, I'd like to hear your points on how your comment about it's a laptop not a desktop helped. Do the card reader bays differ?

They do actually. On a laptop you usually need to press it in, and it'll click it in place. To take it out, you press it in again rather than pull it out directly.

On a PC however, you usually just slide them in and out as you wish.

821346 2009-10-17 07:10:00 Not all laptop ones are like that however.

The one on my laptop, for example, is the push in and pull on it vainly in an attempt to remove it kind...

SD cards are the worst on my laptop - they go in just far enough that getting a hold of the tiny little bit left poking out is a most unpleasant task, and if you happen to have slightly slippery fingers at the time....

821347 2009-10-20 05:53:00 An update .

Through much perseverance and the use of two paperclips and a needlenose plyer (to bend the very end of the paperclips into a 90 degree corner) I have successfully managed to remove the 'SD' card which turns out to be a Sony Memory Stick Pro goddammit .

I've also managed to render my card reader unusable . Bit **** really but there you go .

Thanks for the suggestions .
