821279 2009-10-16 20:58:00 My neighbor has the following error in WXP:
Security accounts manager failed.Following error, the handle is invalid.
Error status oxcoooooo8.
I have tried getting in to safe mode but it just boots back to the above.
Tried SuperGrub
Tried linux live CD but it will not boot.
The $100 per hour IT man is ordered for Monday if I can't solve it by then.

Follow method 2 there. Alternatively, you can perform an offline system restore of the registry using an UBCD4Win or manually in Recovery Console.

If the linux live CD doesn't boot then you either haven't changed the boot order properly, or something is wrong with you CD, or the DVD/CD Drive is faulty. Most probably unrelated to the main problem.

I can not get in to the bios on her machine to do anything.
I feel the so called techi who sold her the box has set this up
to get a call out.As she has been given no XP disk.
My xp pro disk will not boot either but her OS is XPHome.

821282 2009-10-16 23:22:00 Why can you not get to the BIOS?

Is it locked with a PW?
