2009-10-15 10:45:00 | grrrrrr..... :badpc: the usb ports were working untill the computer did an update on all the drivers. now it seems it changed them and now all i get is a message saying that the usb device is not recognised. in manage stuff it has a yellow exclamation mark saying unknown device. now how do i get the correct drivers. updating automatically doesnt get the right ones. i have got the drivers that work with windows vista before i put windows 7 on but it wont let me choose them for it any help would be awesome!

2009-10-15 10:54:00 | DONT get the drivers automatically. Find out what the brand / model of the mobo / system is, and go to the site. Download them, then install them Altho, it shouldnt have updated the USB (the drivers it installed when you installed Win7, should have been good enough). What do you mean it wont let you choose the vista files?? If the vista files are exe files, run them. Delete the yellow entries then reboot. See what happens. Or if windows 7 has a rollback option under the drivers, click on it

2009-10-15 11:27:00 | cheers speedy. so my motherboard name is acer aspire 5100. also the laptop i have. i let it automatically update the stuff as i installed windows7 so cant not let it automatically now lol. i've been to the site and i cant find what i need. im a little confused also. | caviliar (15021) | |
2009-10-15 11:40:00 | You would need all of these (www.acer.co.nz). Just remember to select either 32 or 64 bit. Thats what you've got right? Select notebook / aspire / 5100. You may need all the files under application as well. Just download all of the files, they'll overwrite what windows 7 has installed | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2009-10-15 12:58:00 | i've installed all of those now but still no luck. it still says 'usb device not recognised'. is there somewhere i can go to get the vista usb drivers or similar since they worked on this laptop before clean installing windows7. | caviliar (15021) | |
2009-10-15 17:39:00 | What's the USB device you're plugging in? Does it still say that if you plug it in to one of your other USB ports or are you just using the same USB port all the time? | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2009-10-15 22:52:00 | ive tried mouse, pendrive, external hdd, all the slots do not work. it says device not recognized and comes up with a exclamation mark under device manager. | caviliar (15021) | |
2009-10-15 22:57:00 | Did you delete the entries then reboot? If that doesnt work, it probably doesnt work with Win7 | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2009-10-15 23:12:00 | Open the device manager - click start - type in device select device manager - on the ones with the yellow entries, right click / Properties / Driver tab / Select "roll Back driver" if it has updated drivers for the USB -there will be the option to roll them back. Example (www.imagef1.net.nz) Select a time it was working - reboot. If the option to roll back the drivers is grayed out like the picture - then its not updated USB drivers.

2009-10-16 00:06:00 | yeah i would've probably had that option to rollback but someone said to do a clean install. so i did another one and now no option for that. 799 the attachment shows what my device manager looks like. im not an expert when it comes to this kinda stuff. so not 100% sure what im doing. innitially the usb ports were all working. now they aren't. from what it looks like to me is that there is a device plugged in that seems to be breaking all the ports. i dont get this though because there are only 3 usb ports on my laptop and none have anything plugged in to them
