Not to worry too much about the people and properties downstream from the dams, eh? They need to release water from Karapiro as they have inadvertently allowed the water level to reach a very high level.:horrified

Just because your property that backs onto the river is in danger of floating away. Silly person for buying a property alongside the river.:groan:

Interestingly we have yet to hear any lamentations from those who supposedly hold dominion over the Waikato, concerning the rising water levels.

697184 2008-08-15 11:18:00 So far it looks like another fizzer for storm warnings. All our storms etc so far have been boring, wheres all the action? rob_on_guitar (4196)
697185 2008-08-16 05:03:00 Heaps snow down this way went from Nelson to Murchison on Thurs for 2 days work got back today at 3 o'clock having left at 11 for what is normally a 1 1/2 hour drive. Murch sucks too nothing doing 2 pubs and a shop watched a lot of Olympics though so missed the fight in the bar did see the streaker run down the street in the snow though fool that he is gary67 (56)

697187 2008-08-16 06:26:00 Obviously when the storms were given their warnings some heeded the warning, but the Murchison storm was obviously preoccupied with Wombat patrols and ignored the warning. Next time it too will get the teacup treatment. R2x1 (4628)
697188 2008-08-16 07:52:00 So where is "Global Warming" when you need it? CliveM (6007)
697189 2008-08-16 08:56:00 Increasing instability of established weather patterns is one of the effects of global warming. zqwerty (97)
697190 2008-08-16 09:26:00 There's such a thing as an "established weather pattern"? Isn't that what you would call a "season"? We normally get rain and snow and wind in winter, and in summer we get rain and wind and sun. Varying quantities of each every year that I can remember... Nothing new there. johcar (6283)
697191 2008-08-16 22:47:00 Our weather here is dominated by the sea all around us, moderating the GW changes, the weather in Britain has changed markedly over the last 20 years, this year for instance they have not really had a Summer. zqwerty (97)
