821892 2009-10-19 01:22:00 Would using XP Pro as a print server in a store with 15 machines be a bad thing? I am aware of the 10 connection limit in XP but not everyone will be printing at the same time. The company doesnt want to pay for 2003 server if we can get away with XP. There will be quite a few printers connected (lasers, label printers etc.) Could we get away with it? Without performance issues? aidanmaz (7180)
821893 2009-10-19 01:29:00 Looks like theres a 15 min wait as well between the printing. And it can tax the system (depending on the speed / specs of the system), and if there isnt enough ram on it Speedy Gonzales (78)
821894 2009-10-19 01:47:00 Do you actually need a box to spool the jobs? i.e. can't you just use a printer server to get it on the LAN?

If you did need to spool them first, I'd look at a Linux distro.
