821697 2009-10-18 04:37:00 This is the 2nd time it failed in less than 8 months. Initially it's the 'original HDD (100GB) came with the HP notebook which failed (out of warranty) and we replaced it with a WD 250GB about 8 months ago. Of course, it's still within the warranty period and I can get a replacement but it is annoying. It's for this machine, HP Pavilion dv6217TX notebook computer. I start to suspect that there maybe a problem with the MB that causes the HDD to fail. Is this a logical thinking? bk T (215)
821698 2009-10-18 04:42:00 3 drives and I'd start to worry. 2 - nah, coincidence. Bad luck. pctek (84)
821699 2009-10-19 04:21:00 could be coincidence. i would also check the difference in thermal specs of the two hard drives. rare but if its a model that gets a little to hot, fitting a hotter hardrive will cause problems. tweak'e (69)
