698377 2008-08-19 10:11:00 We must assume B bought one and is now left with egg on face.

One born every minute, or so it is said.

If there was one of me born every minute the world would be a happier and more cheerful place Ciccy. :D

BUT, you are right, I did buy one (on TM) for old times sake and because I collect old things radio. They remind me of my wayward and wasted youth, and the many hours spent unwinding transformers and stringing up long-wire antenna systems to get my crystal set working.

I also figured that having a green-bodied long-haired hedgehog hanging off the side of my garage would be a good conversation starter next time the Seventh Day Adventists come calling. If they can insert it backwards and retrieve it again (in original condition) within 30 minutes, then I'll listen to them for an equivalent period.

I retain all rights to the video footage.

Cheers

One of the most reliable trash indicators yet offered?

698380 2008-08-19 22:39:00 Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent.

(Or was this supposed to be in a different thread?)

698381 2008-08-20 02:18:00 Billy, could I suggest a wirewove mattress base on the roof at one end of your shed and a galvanised rubbish bin at the other?

I’ve seen both of these used for aerials. One wirewove was up a tree. Getting it there helped with the engineering of the now decommissioned Warkworth Satellite Station.

I’m sure the addition of these aerial arrays would hold the attention of your Jehovah friends for longer. ;)

Urk! The tactile implications of attempting to inserting a wirewove mattress where the sun don't shine are enough to put me off answering the door. The galv bin is ok, just place over JW(s) head(s) and panel-beat into shape with a large impact-persuasion tool. The brush antenna can similarly be inserted on the end of a boot, retrieval/extraction is their problem and the fallout can be hosed away.

I still like the antenna, it is a little piece of radio history and whether it is efficient or not is irrelevant.

698383 2008-08-20 08:54:00 For sure Billy, it is as you say a piece of Radio Memorabilia.

But don’t forget, I have it on good authority that a correctly aligned Wirewove could eavesdrop on Martians. ;)

Your Jehovah friends will help you out on that one. ;)

So, would it get Sky Sport? Maybe by the time the signal worked its way through the weave it would be decoded?

Worth a try!

Cheers
