698310 2008-08-18 10:02:00 I read today that there are 268,000 New Zealanders on a benefit. Good God, there are only 4,000,000+ in the country. I Know this is meant to be Monday laughs, but that number is bloody obscene. royaloaks (8205)

And the people you talk about who contribute nothing vote this lot in,lets hope they don't prevail next time.

698312 2008-08-18 21:00:00 Why we speak English

A US Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included 20 Admirals from the US, English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies .

At a reception, he found himself standing with a huge group of officers that included personnel from most of the countries .

Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks .

A French Admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages; Americans learn only English!

He then asked: "Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences, rather than speaking French?"

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German . "

You could have heard a pin drop .

Honestly PCtek, you really have a bee in your bonnet concerning your (brother?)

No members of the forum have one about beneficaries.

Yes I am aware there are people who don't want to work, I have a friend who works for WINZ you know, she goes to the prison and arranges jobs for those getting out soon. Well some of them anyway.

But it gets real old fast this continual banging on as if all beneficaries are the same, and it happens a lot here.

698314 2008-08-19 05:32:00 We're not saying that all beneficiaries are the same, just those that fit the stereotype. But it certainly does happen a lot here - maybe not with those you know personally, but it happens. Erayd (23)

It might happen a lot here but that doesn't make it a bad thing. There's 268000 people on benefits etc and I do wonder how many of them genuinely need it.
