697205 2008-08-14 07:45:00 It's just the digital processor. It takes about 3 secs to gather up the inbound signal and reprocess it so that there is not jitter or lipsync problems.. Get some more sets with built in DTT tuners and the problem will be solved.. :-) paulw (1826)
697206 2008-08-15 03:35:00 Mrs theotherone was in the great brown continent recently and reports that the friends she stayed with have the Oz equivalent of freeview and the is a synch problem within the signal i.e. the people talk and the sound comes out later.
Now that would be annoying.
At least it was when she demonstrated for me.

With the accents, how can you really tell that there's sync problem.

I never see the lips move on John Cleese when he talks either, come to think of it. But he's not from Upsidedown Land.

697208 2008-08-15 04:07:00 It does matter if you have two TVs in adjoining rooms and you have the sound out of sync.

Point. It's a conspiracy by Freeview to get everyone buying digital! ;)

697209 2008-08-15 04:18:00 Hi Just bought a 40in Sony Bravia LCD TV with built in Freeview tuner. Amazing clarity!
Now the wife is in the kitchen preparing dinner and watching the 14in CRT keeps saying "what channel are you watching". Watching the same channel the analgue signal is 3 secs. ahead of the digital channel. Would it not be possible to be at the same time?

I as thinking about getting one of those. I was think of getting the W version, not the V version, as the W version is supposed to have a better 10 bit panel with better colours, unlike the V version which is an 8 bit panel. Did you get a good deal on it?

I have noticed that the Olympics shown on this screen does have quite a lot of JPG type artifacts over the screen, which could be that Freeview highly compress their broadcasts. It could also be that it isn't shown on full 1080p

It depends what version they are showing. Sports Extra, then it's in SD. TVNZ1 then it's in HD. The PQ is pretty good except at some venues I suspect that they are using SD cameras up scaled to HD as there is sometimes a lot of video noise or grain in the picture..

I was looking at it on TVNZ 1 and the swimming was on, and it showed the Sony TV was displaying the picture at 720 resolution, via Sonys built in freeview receiver onscreen display. The picture still looked much better than any other TV in the shop.

I bought the TV at Appliance Shed, Papatoetoe. iT WAS $300 cheaper than JB HIFI. I did not think it was worth an extra $200 to get the W version.
