2009-10-18 11:31:00 | I am so far unable to get the sound to work. It's all greyed out in control panel. I have now upgraded the bios and tried everything but no luck so far. What else can I try. I am running XPSP3. It says no sound card installed when I run DXdiag.

2009-10-18 12:15:00 | 1: Check the Bios to see if it is enabled or not. 2: Check the device manager (Control Panel | System | Hardware tab | Device Manager. Look at any yellow exclamation items, probably named 'unknown multimedia' or sound or audio device or something like that.

2009-10-18 19:37:00 | You need the drivers. They're here (uk.asus.com). Click on download, then select XP. The BIOS doesnt have anything to do with the sound (well its got the option in it, you still have to install the drivers for the sound) | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2009-10-19 08:27:00 | Was it working and then you put on SP3 and then it stopped? I never tried with XP SP2. Could that be part of the problem?

2009-10-19 09:05:00 | I had already tried to install that download but I get an error message: The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware. In device manager there is just one warning sign beside Other devices, PCI Device.

2009-10-19 09:06:00 | Use your motherboard CD to reinstall the drivers. Tried all that but no luck. The MB was previously used in a linux server. Could there be some MB setting or jumper that needs checking?
