699594 2008-08-23 04:53:00 Hi Team

Mrs T is in bed sick and our ancient Lennox DVD player up and died in sympathy, so I rushed out and bought a Panasonic DVD-S33 from DSE (on special at around $85).

Sod's law decreed that her choice of DVDs to play were all bought from the Warehouse and require a multi-zone player. The Lennox was changed to multizone using the remote control and a code entry as described in the handbook, but the Panasonic has no such instruction.

I have searched Google but didn't find any answers, so does anybody know the Panasonic code to make this one multizone?

My brownie points for going and getting a new player are rapidly eroding away here, so any assistance would be much appreciated.

Cheers

WARNING...WARNING....WARNING...WARNING

PLEASE DO NOT TRY THE HACK POSTED BY PANASITE.
IT WILL LOCK YOUR DVD PLAYER COMPLETE (MINE DID!!!!! I HAVE A DUTCH MODEL)
MY DVD PLAYER IS NOW USELESS!!!! (THANKS......)
THERE IS AS FAR AS I KNOW NO OPTION TO RESTORE THE OLD FIRMWARE.

please be careful with this especially because this hack also exist for S54, S511 and S53. the filenames all end on .rom and the official panasonic one ends on .FRM

Seems firmware changes are risky, so I'll need a universal remote. Jaycar have one that looks pretty much identical to the Kameleon too!

Cheers

Why don't you, the Great Negotiator, approach DSE and ask them to fix it or take it to NEXT?

A few years ago the importers or the back room boys at the dealers used to multizone players as a matter of course . There is no reason legally in NZ why they can't do it . Given that imports of various Zone DVDs are legal it is an insult to customers to sell Zone 4 only players .

Good point Paul,I wondered about that!.

DSE shouldn't be allowed to sell rubbish.

699602 2008-08-24 04:55:00 It's not rubbish. It's just a Zone 4 DVD player, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. pine-o-cleen (2955)
699603 2008-08-24 05:12:00 You go into a shop and end up with a player that won't play DVD's,that old boy is what I call rubbish. Cicero (40)
